The Service

What Kitchen Design & Supply
Actually Means.

One Bracknell-based team. 15+ years of Berkshire pipework, drainage and installation work behind every job. Same-day service guaranteed across the region.

What it covers

We measure your kitchen space, talk through how you cook and entertain, design two or three layouts, render them in 3D and supply the full specification — cabinets, worktops, appliances, sinks, taps, lighting — at trade pricing.

Who it's for

Homeowners planning a replacement kitchen, families designing the kitchen for an extension or knock-through, landlords upgrading rental stock, and self-builders needing a coordinated supply package.

When you need it

Before you put a deposit on a showroom design, before you commit to a layout that 'just makes sense', and ideally before plastering starts on an extension so services can be planned around the final spec.

Why professional matters

Showroom kitchen designers earn commission on the units they sell. Their layouts often maximise cabinet count, not usability. An independent design from a fitter who installs daily knows which cabinet combinations work, which finishes hold up, which appliance brands service well in Berkshire, and which deals are actually a deal.

What Happens If You Wait

The Job Gets Bigger.
The Bill Gets Worse.

Every plumbing and drainage problem follows the same curve — cheap to fix early, painful to fix late. Here's what the wait actually costs.

Layouts That Don't Work In Real Life

A glossy showroom render hides the fact that the fridge door blocks the only walkway, or the dishwasher opens into the oven door zone. Real-life ergonomics matter.

Cabinet Combinations That Don't Exist

Some showroom designs specify cabinets that aren't actually made by the brand quoted — discovered only when the order arrives missing key pieces and the project halts.

Appliance Specs That Trip The Consumer Unit

Adding an induction hob plus a steam oven plus a boiling-water tap plus an electric oven without checking the main fuse rating will trip the house and require a supply upgrade.

Common Mistakes We See Weekly

  • Specifying an island without ventilation routing planned
  • Choosing a butler sink without checking cabinet structural support
  • Picking a slimline dishwasher when the household runs two cycles a day
  • Mixing handle styles across drawers and doors without testing the look
  • Buying appliances on Black Friday before the cabinetry is specified — sizes rarely match

Our Process

Five Steps.
Every Job, Every Time.

01

Survey Visit

We come to you, measure properly (laser plus tape, never trust an estate-agent plan), photograph existing services, and discuss how you use the space.

02

Layout & 3D Visuals

Two or three layout options — usually a like-for-like, an improvement, and a 'bigger reorganisation'. Each rendered in 3D from multiple viewpoints.

03

Specification & Trade Quote

Full itemised specification — cabinets, worktops, sink, tap, appliances, lighting. Pricing at trade-plus, with the trade invoice visible on request.

04

Order, Receive, Check

We place the order, receive and check the delivery, and stage everything for the fit. Missing or damaged items get re-ordered before they hold up the install.

05

Install Or Hand-Off

Use our install team or pass the spec to your own fitter. Either way, you get a buildable specification and the right materials on site.

Why It's Worth Doing Right

Specific Outcomes,
Not Vague Promises.

Independent Brand-Agnostic Advice

We don't take manufacturer commission. We recommend the brand that fits your spec and budget — not the one paying the showroom this month.

Real Trade Pricing

Cost-plus on cabinets, worktops and appliances. Typically 20–35% below high-street showroom pricing.

Designed Around Your Habits

How many cook? Where does the food shop land? Do kids do homework at the island? Real questions, asked in your kitchen, before lines get drawn.

Coordinated Spec

Cabinets, worktops, appliances, sink, tap, lighting — all specified as one set so it works together aesthetically and functionally.

Optional Install

We'll happily fit what we design and supply, or hand a clean buildable spec to your fitter.

Realistic Lead Times Up Front

We flag what's in stock, what's 4 weeks, what's 12. No nasty surprises mid-project.

Technical Detail

How We Actually
Do The Work.

Modern kitchen design is the art of choosing between hundreds of cabinet, worktop, appliance and finish combinations — most of which would technically 'work', but only some of which would work for you, in your house, with your habits and your budget.

Local Knowledge

Bracknell-based, working daily across Wokingham, Maidenhead, Windsor, Ascot, Reading, Woodley, Woking and into West London. The right kit for Berkshire soil, Berkshire pipework and Berkshire weather.

Layout Patterns

Galley (efficient for one cook, awkward for two), L-shape (sociable, flexible), U-shape (storage-heavy, can feel enclosed), island (sociable but needs the floor space — 1.2m clearance all round minimum). We test the layout against your traffic patterns, not against a magazine ideal.

Cabinet Brands & Construction

Howdens, Magnet, Wren, DIY Kitchens, Kitchen Stori, Second Nature, Sigma 3, Pronorm. Rigid (pre-assembled) construction is squarer and stronger than flat-pack — we recommend rigid where the budget allows. Internal carcass quality (18mm vs 15mm board, dovetail vs dowel drawers, BLUM vs no-name hinges) is the real differentiator between brands.

Worktop Selection

Laminate (£), solid wood (££, characterful, needs care), composite quartz (£££, e.g. Silestone, Caesarstone, Cimstone), granite (£££, natural, sealed), Dekton/Lapitec (££££, sintered stone, almost indestructible). Worktop choice affects sink type, edge profile and joining strategy — we specify them together.

Appliance Strategy

Single oven vs double vs combi tower vs steam. Induction vs gas vs ceramic. Integrated vs freestanding fridge-freezer. Boiling-water tap as a 4-in-1 vs separate. Wine cooler under-counter vs tall. Each combination has electrical-load implications and ventilation implications we work through at design stage.

Residential vs Light Commercial

Residential designs prioritise sociability and storage. HMO and small-commercial designs prioritise durability, fire compliance (especially around hobs in shared kitchens), and ease-of-cleaning. We design both with the right material spec for the context.

Is the design visit really free?

+

Yes. Free across Bracknell, Wokingham, Reading and the wider Berkshire patch — measurements, layouts, 3D visuals and the full quote. No fee, no obligation.

How much can I save buying through you vs a high-street showroom?

+

Typically 20–35% off RRP on cabinets and worktops, and trade pricing on appliances. We show you the trade invoice so the saving is transparent, not just claimed.

Do I have to use your install team?

+

No. Many clients use us for design and supply, then bring in their own fitter. We brief the fitter on the spec and stay reachable through the project.

How long does the design process take?

+

2–4 weeks from first visit to signed-off spec, depending on how many rounds of layout iteration you'd like. Faster if decisions are clear.

Can you design a kitchen for an extension we haven't built yet?

+

Yes — actually the best time to start. We work from architect's drawings, optimise the layout, and brief the builder on where to leave services for first-fix.

What brands do you specify?

+

Cabinets: Howdens, Magnet, Wren, DIY Kitchens, Second Nature, Pronorm. Appliances: Neff, Bosch, Siemens, Miele, AEG, Quooker, Caple. Worktops: Silestone, Caesarstone, Cimstone, Dekton, plus solid wood and laminate. We're not tied to any of them.

What if I change my mind about an appliance after ordering?

+

Tell us before delivery and we'll do everything possible to swap. After delivery, manufacturer return policies apply — usually 14 days uninstalled and undamaged, sometimes with a restocking fee.

How do I pay and when?

+

Bank transfer or card on completion for one-day jobs. Larger installs run on a clear schedule — deposit to secure the slot and order materials, a stage payment when first fix is complete, and the balance on sign-off. No cash-only nonsense, no pressure to pay before the work is signed off.

What guarantee do you offer?

+

Every job leaves with a written guarantee — labour is covered by us, and manufacturer warranties on parts and fittings are registered in your name and emailed across with the paperwork. If anything moves, leaks or fails inside the guarantee window, we come back and put it right at no charge.

Do you cover my postcode in Berkshire?

+

Yes — Overflow is based in Bracknell (RG12) and we run kitchen design work daily across Bracknell, Wokingham, Maidenhead, Windsor, Ascot, Reading, Woodley, Woking and into West London. If you're inside the M25/M4 corridor, you're in our patch. Call 07949 996627 and we'll confirm an arrival window on the call.
