The Service

What Kitchen Installation
Actually Means.

One Bracknell-based team. 15+ years of Berkshire pipework, drainage and installation work behind every job. Same-day service guaranteed across the region.

What it covers

Full kitchen installation covers strip-out of the existing kitchen, structural prep (walls, floors, services), first-fix plumbing, electrics and gas, cabinet assembly and hanging, worktop templating and fitting, appliance integration, tiling/splashbacks, second-fix services, sealing and final decoration.

Who it's for

Homeowners replacing tired kitchens, families changing layout when extending or knocking through, landlords upgrading rental kitchens for value and durability, and self-builders needing a fit team for a flat-pack package from Howdens, Magnet, Wren or DIY Kitchens.

When you need it

When the existing kitchen no longer works (layout, storage, sociability), when units are physically failing (delaminated doors, cracked worktops, broken hinges throughout), or when you're extending the property and the new kitchen footprint is part of the project.

Why professional matters

A kitchen is the most expensive and disruptive room in the house to fit. Cabinets that aren't level by 2mm read as wonky for the next twenty years. A worktop scribed badly to a wall is a permanent eyesore. A waste run installed without proper falls becomes the source of every smell in the house. Professional fitting is the difference between 'a new kitchen' and 'a kitchen that looks bespoke'.

What Happens If You Wait

The Job Gets Bigger.
The Bill Gets Worse.

Every plumbing and drainage problem follows the same curve — cheap to fix early, painful to fix late. Here's what the wait actually costs.

Cabinets Out Of Line

Floors in older Berkshire homes are rarely level. Cabinets hung without packing and levelling read as crooked from day one and can't be fixed without removing worktops and starting again.

Worktop Disasters

Solid surface and stone worktops are templated once and fitted once. A bad template means the join over the hob is 4mm wide and visible for the life of the kitchen. Laminate worktops scribed badly to a wall leave a wedge gap that fills with crumbs.

Hidden Service Mistakes

Waste pipes laid with insufficient fall back up. Hot water flex tails twisted under appliances fail in three years. Gas connections done without a proper tightness test are a Gas Safe offence and an insurance void.

Common Mistakes We See Weekly

  • Self-fitting flat-pack and discovering the supplied screws are too short for the wall type
  • Ordering a kitchen without templating worktops on site after cabinets are hung
  • Installing an induction hob without checking the consumer-unit capacity and circuit rating
  • Routing a 110mm soil pipe through a wall cabinet (yes, we've seen it)
  • Skipping the gas tightness test on a new hob connection

Why It's Worth Doing Right

Specific Outcomes,
Not Vague Promises.

One Team Owns The Fit

Plumbing, electrics, joinery and gas all under one roof — no waiting on subcontractors, no scope-gap finger-pointing.

Cabinets Levelled Properly

Every cabinet shimmed and packed. Doors and drawers align cleanly. Worktops sit flat and joins are tight.

Worktops Templated In Person

Stone and solid-surface tops templated to the actual cabinet line — not a CAD drawing. Joins where they belong, edges scribed to the walls properly.

Gas & Electrics Certified

Gas Safe certificates on all gas work. Part P certificates on all electrics. Notifications submitted to Building Control where required.

Realistic Timelines

10–18 working days for a typical replacement kitchen. We give you a date the kitchen is usable, in writing, before we start.

Insurance-Ready Paperwork

Itemised invoices, gas and electrical certificates, manufacturer warranties registered in your name. Everything your insurer or future buyer might ask for.

Technical Detail

How We Actually
Do The Work.

Kitchen fitting has industrialised over the last decade — most modern UK kitchens are flat-pack or rigid units from a handful of suppliers, fitted to broadly standard specifications. The skill is in the prep, the templating and the integration of services that vary house-to-house.

Local Knowledge

Bracknell-based, working daily across Wokingham, Maidenhead, Windsor, Ascot, Reading, Woodley, Woking and into West London. The right kit for Berkshire soil, Berkshire pipework and Berkshire weather.

Cabinet Brands We Fit

Howdens (the standard for trade fits in Berkshire), Magnet, Wren, DIY Kitchens, Wickes, B&Q. Rigid construction preferred over flat-pack where budget allows — squareness and durability are noticeably better. We're agnostic on brand; we'll fit what you've bought and tell you honestly if the spec is a problem.

Worktop Materials

Laminate (cost-effective, modern decors, life ~10 years), solid wood (warm, requires oiling, moves seasonally), composite stone/quartz (Silestone, Caesarstone, Cimstone — bombproof, joined inconspicuously, 25-year design life), granite (natural variation, sealed), Dekton/Lapitec (ultra-hard sintered stone). Each templates differently; we sequence the fit accordingly.

Appliances & Integration

Built-in single ovens, double ovens, microwave/combi towers, induction and gas hobs, integrated fridges and freezers, dishwashers (full integration with door-on-door), wine coolers, boiling-water taps. Each has its own circuit, ventilation and service requirements — we plan them at first-fix, not when the unit is in the box on site.

Plumbing, Gas & Electrics

Sink and waste routed with proper falls into the soil stack or external gully. Dishwasher and washing machine on isolated valves with stop-on flex hoses (never solid-piped without an isolator). Gas hob fed in 15mm copper from a CSGV, tested to GSIUR and certified. Sockets behind appliances on appropriate circuits; induction hobs on 32A dedicated radial. Notified electrical work submitted under Part P.

Residential vs Light Commercial

Residential kitchens are domestic spec throughout. Light commercial (rental HMOs, small offices, B&Bs) often demands stainless prep surfaces, commercial-rated extraction (with mechanical ducting and grease filters), interlocked gas safety systems and waste systems with grease management. Sean's commercial background means we can spec either correctly.

How much does kitchen installation cost in Bracknell?

+

Fit-only labour for a standard replacement kitchen typically runs £3,500–£6,500 depending on size, layout changes and worktop type. Larger kitchens with stone tops, integrated appliances and layout changes run £6,500–£12,000. The price is fixed before we start and excludes the cost of units, appliances and worktops unless we're also supplying.

How long does a kitchen install take?

+

Replacement same-layout kitchen: 10–14 days. Layout change with moved sink and hob: 14–18 days. New-build or extension fit-out: 18–25 days. We give you the date the kitchen is usable, in writing, before we start.

Can I use the kitchen during the install?

+

Partly. We aim to keep the sink and an isolated fridge useable wherever possible, but most clients set up a temporary kitchen elsewhere (microwave, kettle, induction plate) for the duration.

Do you fit kitchens I've bought from Howdens / Wren / IKEA?

+

Yes. We fit all major brands. We'll review the order list before fitting and flag any missing parts — Howdens orders are often missing end panels or cornicing that we'll spot before strip-out.

Do you supply kitchens too?

+

Yes — we can supply Howdens, DIY Kitchens and several other ranges at trade pricing. See our kitchen design & supply page or ask on the quote visit.

Will you handle the gas and electrics?

+

Yes — gas by our Gas Safe engineer, electrics by our Part P electrician. All work certified and notified where required.

What's the guarantee?

+

12 months on all workmanship (cabinet alignment, worktop joins, plumbing connections, gas, electrics, sealing). Manufacturer warranties on cabinets and appliances are registered in your name.

How do I pay and when?

+

Bank transfer or card on completion for one-day jobs. Larger installs run on a clear schedule — deposit to secure the slot and order materials, a stage payment when first fix is complete, and the balance on sign-off. No cash-only nonsense, no pressure to pay before the work is signed off.

Are you fully insured?

+

Yes. Overflow Plumbing & Drainage Ltd (Company No. 12427151) carries full public liability and employers' liability insurance. Certificates are sent across with your quote on request — landlords and letting agents usually want them for their files.

Do you cover my postcode in Berkshire?

+

Yes — Overflow is based in Bracknell (RG12) and we run kitchen installation work daily across Bracknell, Wokingham, Maidenhead, Windsor, Ascot, Reading, Woodley, Woking and into West London. If you're inside the M25/M4 corridor, you're in our patch. Call 07949 996627 and we'll confirm an arrival window on the call.
